Prizes in the field of children's and teenage literature will be awarded in Russia from 2025. The corresponding decree was signed by the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin.
As reported on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers, the prizes in the amount of 1.5 million rubles each will be awarded in seven nominations by decision of the Intergovernmental Council. Among the nominations: the best prose works for children and teenagers, the best authors of children's and teenage poems, the best illustrated books for children and teenagers, the best publishing project for children and teenagers.
In addition, one of the prizes will be awarded for the contribution to the development of children's literature, the government added.
Earlier it was reported that on December 5, the National Literary Award "Big Book" for the 19th time will announce the winners at a ceremony. The most significant literary award in Russia has been awarded since 2006 for the best prose work in the Russian language.
Prior to that, on November 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin recognized the contribution of librarians to the development of national culture at the ceremony of awarding the gold medal "For Merit in Librarianship".
