The signal sent by the test of the Oreshnik ballistic missile and the subsequent address by Russian President Vladimir Putin was received by all addressees in the West, in particular by the team of US President-elect Donald Trump. Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko said on December 2.

"I meant the Trump team as well, not just the 'outgoing nature' - the Democrats. We know for sure that the signal has already been decoded by specific people, who will determine both the policy on Ukraine, and security policy, and Washington's international policy after January 20, 2025," she said in an interview with aif.ru.

The speaker of the Council of the Russian Federation noted that Trump's loud pre-election statements about the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis have subsided, but this does not mean that his team has removed itself from this issue. At the same time, she pointed out that the probability that there will be a real attempt to start such negotiations and meetings in 2025 is much higher than the probability that there will be no such attempts.

Earlier, on November 22, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said that Trump has every opportunity to end the conflict because Washington has all the tools to end hostilities. He noted that Moscow does not rely on Trump or anyone else in the Ukrainian issue.

Putin said on Nov. 21 that Ukraine had used Western long-range weapons against the Russian state, causing the regional conflict to take on elements of a global conflict. He also said that one of Russia's newest medium-range missile systems, the Oreshnik ballistic missile, had been tested under combat conditions.

Before that, on November 14, Trump promised to "work very hard" to end the conflict in Ukraine. Before that, on November 12, former Democratic Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard said that Trump's goal is to prevent World War III.

The election of the 47th President of the United States was held on November 5. In the national vote, Trump received 51% of the vote, while Democratic candidate Kamala Harris received 47.4%. The next day, the politician, speaking to supporters, called himself the 47th President of the United States and said that his goal as head of state considers the cessation of military conflicts in the world.
