Australian police have intercepted the largest cocaine shipment in the country's history weighing 2.34 tons. This was reported by SBS News on December 2.
It is specified that police officers managed to stop an attempt to import 2.34 tons of cocaine into Australia after the boat on which it was transported broke down. The group, consisting of 11 men and two teenagers, were arrested.
"The vessel got stuck off the northeast cape of K'gari Island due to a suspected mechanical failure, numerous arrests were made at sea," the TV station informed.
According to police, the estimated black market value of the cocaine, packed in bales of 40 kilograms, is about 760 million Australian dollars.
Earlier, on November 6, in Spain in a container with bananas found a record batch of cocaine. Spanish law enforcement authorities seized 13 tons of cocaine, which is the largest seized batch in the history of the country.
