Current U.S. President Joe Biden decided to pardon his son Hunter on two criminal cases - tax evasion and gun possession. He noted that he made the decision to pardon his son over the Thanksgiving weekend.

At the same time, Hunter Biden's lawyers said the threat to his future because of the victory of US President-elect Donald Trump. "There is no question that Trump referred to Hunter as a member of his enemies list," they said. His team also said Trump "could turn his revenge on prosecutors" if they don't take a tougher stance.

Before that, on October 24, Trump - then a presidential candidate - admitted that he could pardon Hunter Biden after his victory. According to the politician, he is able to take such a step, although he himself was severely persecuted by the current authorities.

In September, Hunter Biden pleaded guilty to nine counts of criminal charges of non-payment of taxes, and in June - on three counts of weapons possession.
