An Army aviation crew on a Ka-52 helicopter as part of a mixed tactical group has struck personnel and a stronghold of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the border area of Kursk Region with air missiles. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on December 2.

After receiving coordinates from scouts in the course of a combat mission to support units, pilots of the army aviation carried out missile launches at the targets.

After the strike, the crew performed an anti-missile maneuver at extremely low altitude and released heat traps that prevent the missiles from hitting the Ukrainian army's man-portable surface-to-air missile system (MANPADS).

Earlier, on December 1, crews of Su-35S multipurpose super-maneuverable fighter jets with controlled thrust vectoring of the Russian Air and Space Forces (VKS RF) performed air cover for VKS crews in the border area of the Kursk Region. In addition, the crews carried out airstrikes on AFU armored vehicles and manpower.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
