US urged Ukraine to decide on its own concessions for peace with Russian Federation

The Ukrainian authorities should determine on their own what territorial concessions they are ready to make in order to make peace with Russia. This was stated by Jake Sullivan, the US President's National Security Advisor, on December 1.
"The key point, in my view, is that Ukraine should decide its own fate, and that fate should not be imposed from the outside, including by the United States," the White House official said in an interview with ABC television.
He added that Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy (his term expired in May) had already spoken about the need to end the conflict through diplomacy. However, issues related to territory, security and other aspects should remain only in Zelensky's competence, as "ultimately this is his country," Sullivan noted. Washington, for its part, continues to engage with Kiev, discussing a possible format for future talks.
"The main objective for this year was to provide Ukraine with as many tools as possible so that it can enter the negotiations from a strong position and achieve the desired outcome," the White House spokesman clarified.
He also added that the US will continue to assist Ukraine by transferring the necessary weapons, however, the possibility of returning nuclear weapons to Kiev has been ruled out. Sullivan emphasized that Washington was still focused on supplying conventional weapons to the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF).
Earlier, on 30 November, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said that the USA was using all possibilities to prevent Russia from solving the tasks of the special military operation (SMO), but they would not succeed. According to the diplomat, it is necessary to understand what means the US president has demanded and for what purposes. Ryabkov also noted that this causes non-acceptance on the part of Russia.
Before that, on November 26, the UK Parliament called on US President Joe Biden and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to ensure negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.
On November 6, Kremlin spokesman Dmitriy Peskov indicated that the USA would be able to contribute to the end of the conflict in Ukraine, as it is the one who is fomenting it.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, is ongoing. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
