Ukraine says Trump is unable to end the conflict

Newly elected US President Donald Trump will not be able to end the Ukrainian conflict. This was stated by Oleg Starikov, a retired colonel of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), on November 30.
"If someone thinks that Trump will come and say, 'And let's sit down at the negotiating table' and immediately everything stopped, nothing will stop," he said in an interview on the YouTube channel Politeka.
According to Starikov, it is impossible to completely stop the conflict in Ukraine. Even a decrease in the intensity of hostilities does not guarantee peace because of mistrust between the parties, which are not ready to withdraw troops, and the introduction of peacekeepers is unlikely.
Earlier, on November 22, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said that Trump has every opportunity to end the conflict because Washington has all the tools to stop hostilities. He noted that Moscow does not rely on Trump or anyone else in the Ukrainian issue.
On Nov. 14, Trump promised to "work very hard" to end the conflict in Ukraine. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Moscow will wait for proposals to this effect and is ready to consider them.
Before that, on November 12, former Democratic Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard said that Trump's goal is to prevent World War III. She noted that all diplomatic measures should be tried before sending the US Armed Forces to hot spots, and this is one of the reasons why many Americans voted for Trump.
The election for the 47th president of the United States was held on November 5. In the national vote, Trump received 51% of the vote, while Democratic candidate Kamala Harris received 47.4%. The next day, the politician, speaking to supporters, called himself the 47th President of the United States and said that his goal as head of state considers the end of military conflicts in the world.
