Putin approved the procedure for passing weight and dimensional control by cars

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law amending Article 31 of the law "Statute of road transport and urban land electric transport". As follows from the document, published on November 30 on the official Internet portal of legal information, the amendments concern the passage of weight and dimensional control of vehicles at the request of an official.

According to the document, persons, whose vehicles are monitored within the framework of state control (supervision) of automobile, land electric transport and road economy, are obliged "at the request of the raiding official to ensure the passage of weight and dimensional control of their vehicles".

Such an obligation in the law is dictated by the need to exclude cases of refusal of owners and drivers of vehicles to pass weight and dimensional control at the request of Rostransnadzor.

The document comes into force on September 1, 2025.

Also on November 30, Putin signed the law, according to which the Russian MTPL policy will apply to the territory of Belarus. Thus, Russian car owners, if they wish, will be able to extend MTPL coverage to the territory of Belarus within the insurance system of the Union State (SU).
