Russia has been conducting a special military operation to protect civilians in Donbas since February 24, 2022. The Defense Ministry said that units of the Southern Group of Forces liberated the village of Ilyinka in the Donetsk People's Republic, and units of the Center Group of Forces took control of Petrovka in the DNR.

Russian forces also repelled 11 enemy counterattacks. The losses of Ukrainian troops in this direction amounted to up to 380 servicemen, a US-made M113 armored personnel carrier, two vehicles and a UK-made FH-70 155-millimeter howitzer.

In addition, operational-tactical aviation, attack drones, missile troops and artillery of the Russian Armed Forces' groups of troops struck the infrastructure of military airfields, assembly shops and UAV warehouses, as well as accumulations of Ukrainian troops and enemy military equipment in 136 areas.

Air defense means eliminated 55 aircraft-type drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

In total, 649 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 37,013 UAVs, 586 anti-aircraft missile systems (SAMs), 19,577 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,497 multiple rocket launchers (MLRS), 18,807 field artillery guns and mortars, 28,905 units of special military vehicles have been destroyed since the beginning of the air defense.
