Russian Armed Forces liberate Ilyinka and Petrovka in the DNR


The Russian Armed Forces have liberated the settlements of Ilyinka and Petrovka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on Sunday, December 1.
"Units of the Southern Group of Forces as a result of active offensive actions liberated the settlement of Ilyinka in the Donetsk People's Republic. <...> The units of the Center group of troops <...> liberated the settlement of Petrovka," the report said.
During the day, the "South" grouping also defeated formations of four brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). As a result, the enemy lost up to 380 military, an armored personnel carrier, a howitzer and two vehicles.
In turn, the Central grouping hit the manpower and equipment of three brigades and one assault battalion, and repelled 11 enemy counterattacks. Ukrainian armed formations lost over 470 servicemen, three howitzers, a gun, two vehicles and two armored combat vehicles.
Earlier, on November 29, the Defense Ministry reported the liberation of four settlements during the week. In the DNR, the Center group liberated Novaya Ilyinka and Vorovskoye, while the Eastern group liberated the village of Razdolye. In addition, units of the West group liberated the village of Kopanki in Kharkiv Region.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
