It is not uncommon for a smartphone to start to run out of battery faster with years of use. There can be many reasons for this, the main ones listed in an interview with "Gazeta.Ru" on Sunday, December 1, the technical director of the service "Paverbanks MTS Yurent" Ilya Kazakov.

"The batteries of modern smartphones are manufactured using lithium-ion technology. Compared to older generations, lithium-ion batteries charge faster and last longer. However, any modern battery is subject to chemical aging. As it ages, the amount of charge it can hold before recharging decreases. In this case, the chemical aging of the battery is affected not only by how much you have used the gadget, but also how exactly you used it," commented the expert.

He emphasized that the matter may even be in the ordinary settings of the phone, not in wear and tear or breakage. So, quickly can drain the battery high brightness of the screen. This function requires a lot of energy, and therefore, if you need to save a charge, you can make the screen dimmer.

"Many apps consume power even when you're not actively using them. Background refreshing of apps allows them to constantly update content, consuming data and energy. Disabling this feature can help save charge," Kazakov reported.

In addition, a lot of energy is wasted when push notifications are enabled, since a constant internet connection is maintained, data is transferred regularly. To save charge, automatic notifications can be disabled in the gadget's settings.

"Location services allow your device to determine where you are right now - you need this for online maps, weather and shopping apps, fitness tracker and pedometer, for example. If the phone constantly determines your geolocation, the battery capacity gradually decreases," the expert noted.

In addition to all of the above, the charge is spent on searching for a Wi-Fi or cellular signal, as well as the use of Bluetooth and GPS. Extremely low or, on the contrary, high temperatures are also harmful to the battery, also the use of the gadget while charging or with several applications running in parallel harms the battery.

"Software updates are very important to improve the functionality and security of a device. But they can also affect battery life. So, if the update introduces new features that require more processing power, the processor of your gadget will need to work harder, and this will already lead to increased power consumption and rapid battery drain," the specialist concluded.

Earlier, on November 3, the technical director of the service "Paverbanks MTS Jurent" Ilya Kazakov explained which applications of social networks most strongly drain the battery of the phone. So, according to him, quickly drain the battery applications with GPS-navigation.

Before that, on November 2, Professor of the Department of Nanoelectronics RTU MIREA, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Alexei Yurasov said that optimizing charging is a way to slow down the process of reducing the battery capacity of modern smartphones. It is recommended to avoid keeping the battery in the state of full charge for a long time, as it can also negatively affect its capacity. Low-quality chargers can cause overheating and damage to the battery, the professor said.
