In the northern part of Norway, a center for amphibious operations has appeared to strengthen the countermeasures against Russia in the Arctic. This was reported by Newsweek on Saturday, November 30.

"In Norway, a center for amphibious operations was created as part of the next step of the NATO country to strengthen its operations on the border with Russia in the Arctic," the material said.

The center is located in Serreys. It is planned to train Dutch, American and British troops. Meanwhile, it is specified that Norway itself does not have landing troops. However, there are several other units near the center.

According to Norwegian Defense Minister Bjorn Arild Gram, it is necessary to "train together to protect Norway, the Nordic region and NATO in case of crisis and war," the publication specifies.

Earlier, on November 26, it became known that many British servicemen were shocked by the conditions of NATO exercises in Finnish Lapland at -15 degrees Celsius. This was reported by the Deputy Commander of the 19th Regiment of the Royal Artillery Major David Mortimer.

Earlier, on November 20, Yle TV and radio company said that Finnish Lapland is not ready for the deployment of NATO troops. It is specified that this is evidenced by the poor condition of roads, bridges and railroads, as well as the lack of infrastructure in important regions.

Before that, on October 28, military expert, retired colonel Anatoly Matviychuk said that the November NATO Lightning Strike 24 exercise in Finland is necessary for the North Atlantic Alliance to push Russia out of the Arctic. He emphasized that NATO is using the territories of Norway, Finland and Sweden to strengthen its base and deploy forces and means that should help in deterring Russia.
