The West should offer Russia a ceasefire with the suspension of arms deliveries to Kiev. Bundestag (German parliament) deputy from the Left Party group Gregor Gysi said this in an interview with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung newspaper on 30 November.

He is convinced that Ukraine will not be able to preserve its territorial integrity by armed means without risking an inevitable escalation.

"The West should offer Russian President Vladimir Putin a ceasefire with a suspension of arms deliveries and the start of peace talks. If he refuses this, he will indirectly approve further arms deliveries from the West," Gizi commented, adding that the Left favors an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine and a halt to arms deliveries.

However, the MP said that during the peace talks there should be no question of Kiev giving up territories.

Earlier, on November 29, the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) pointed to NATO's desire to freeze the conflict in Ukraine in order to restore the AFU. It is noted that the West plans to use the temporary freezing of the conflict to restore the Ukrainian army and prepare for a future offensive.

Before that, on November 20, the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said that freezing the conflict in Ukraine is not suitable for Russia. At the same time, he noted that head of state Vladimir Putin was ready for contacts and negotiations.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the worsening situation in the region.
