In Germany, 9,000 people evacuated after the discovery of a World War II bomb


About 9 thousand people were forced to leave their homes in the German city of Hanover because of the discovery of an unexploded 250-kilogram bomb made by the United States during World War II. This was reported by The Pinnacle Gazette on November 30.
People were evacuated around 8:00 local time (10:00 Moscow time). It is specified that the shell was found on the construction site of the Hannover Higher Medical School.
In the afternoon, the explosive device was successfully defused, both detonators after extraction were detonated on site. It is specified that more than 700 emergency services personnel were involved in the operation.
After the detonation of the device, residents returned to their homes.
Earlier, on August 21, unexploded aerial bomb of World War II weighing 250 kg was found in the Czech town of Litvinov at the oil refinery. About 600 people were evacuated from the refinery and the surrounding area.
