Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law, according to which the validity of the Russian CMTPL insurance policy will be extended to the territory of Belarus. The document was posted on November 30 on the website of the official publication of legal acts.

Thus, Russian car owners will be able to extend MTPL coverage to the territory of Belarus within the insurance system of the Union State (SU).

At the same time, only insurers with permanent location in the country of the Union State, on the territory of which the car is registered, will be able to conclude such contracts. The law will come into force on January 1, 2025.

Earlier, November 26, the State Duma adopted the law on the extension of CMTPL insurance policy to the territory of Belarus in the second and third readings. A similar mechanism will be available for Belarusian car owners, explained a member of the Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian integration and relations with compatriots, Artur Taimazov ("United Russia"). The cost of the extended policy will be calculated on the basis of tariffs in force in the country where the vehicle is registered, and will be taken into account as an additional risk.

At the same time, the State Duma adopted in the first reading of the bill on the introduction of a fine of up to 5 thousand rubles for repeated driving without a MTPL policy.

November 22, it became known that the least number of car owners, who have the maximum discount for accident-free driving under MTPL, lives in the republics of Crimea and Dagestan. The highest proportion of car owners who have the maximum discount is in Moscow.
