Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held telephone talks with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan, during which he discussed the current situation in Syria. This is reported on November 30 on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

"In the center of the conversation was the emerging situation in Syria. On both sides expressed serious concern about the dangerous development of the situation in the SAR in connection with the military escalation in the provinces of Aleppo and Idlib," the ministry said.

It is also noted that the parties confirmed the need to coordinate joint actions to stabilize the situation in the Syrian Arab Republic (SAR). For this purpose, first of all, the provisions of the Astana format should be used, they concluded.

Lavrov also discussed the situation in Syria with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araqchi afterward. The conversation took place at the initiative of the Iranian side. The Russian Foreign Ministry said the sides expressed extreme concern over the dangerous escalation in the Arab republic due to the recent outbreak of terrorist groups in Aleppo and Idlib. The sides stated the need for urgent comprehensive consideration of the situation within the Astana format.

"Strong support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the SAR was reaffirmed. The ministers agreed on the need to intensify joint efforts aimed at stabilizing the situation in Syria," the ministry said on its website.

Earlier in the day, the Syrian Armed Forces General Command reported that dozens of Syrian military personnel were killed and wounded while repelling attacks by the extremist group Jebhat al-Nusra (banned in Russia) in Aleppo and Idlib. It was specified that the armed terrorists launched a massive attack from several directions in recent days with the support of thousands of foreign fighters, heavy weapons and a large number of drones.

Before that, on November 29, it was reported that the Syrian Army eliminated hundreds of terrorists in Aleppo and Idlib and continued the offensive on all points where the militants had entrenched. The Center for Reconciliation of Enemy Parties (CRAP) specified that at least 200 terrorists were destroyed by the Russian Air and Space Forces (VKS) over the day.

On November 28, the Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement on the results of the meeting in the Astana format on Syria on the margins of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly in New York Foreign Ministers of Russia, Iran and Turkey. It was noted that Lavrov, Araqchi and Fidan condemned Israel's arbitrary airstrikes on Syria, calling them a gross violation of international law.

On the night of September 9, Al Hadath TV channel reported Israeli strikes on three provinces of Syria: Damascus, Tartus and Homs. The attack was one of the largest in recent years, with about 15 airstrikes. The next day, Syria's SANA news agency reported that the Masyaf and Wadi al-Ayoun roads were damaged due to the Israeli attack. A fire broke out in the Khayr Abbas neighborhood.
