Former deputy head of the Ministry of Transport Semenov arrested in fraud case


Former deputy head of the Ministry of Transportation Alexei Semyonov has been detained in the case of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "ProtectionInfoTrans". According to the source of "Izvestiya" on November 30, the court arrested the official for two months.
It is noted that the detention was carried out on Thursday, November 28.
According to the case card on the portal of the capital's courts of general jurisdiction, Semenov is charged with violation of part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud committed by an organized group on a particularly large scale").
Semenov was retired in November 2020. He was appointed to the post of deputy minister on October 4, 2018. In the Ministry, he supervised digital development.
Before that, on November 1, charges in a case of corruption on a particularly large scale were brought against the general director of the Kaliningrad transport company. As reported by the investigative department of the Investigative Committee for the region, the head of the company is charged under Part 5 of Article 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Transfer of a bribe to an official on a particularly large scale"). According to the investigation, the total amount was to be 4.2 million rubles.
