Ryabkov pointed out the harm to the US economy due to sanctions against Russia

Washington's sanctions against Russian uranium are undermining the competitiveness of the United States itself, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on November 30.
"They, by the way, have long been working to undermine the competitiveness of the EU economies. And in this sphere (uranium supplies. - Ed.) they will undermine their own competitiveness as a result of their own thoughtless, irresponsible policy," he said in an interview with TASS.
According to Ryabkov, the Russian side is not going to be saddened by the choice made by the U.S. authorities in this matter. At the same time, he expressed regret that the Americans do not fully realize the damage to their interests as a result of such a policy.
Earlier, on November 15, the Russian government imposed temporary restrictions on the export of enriched uranium to the United States. The mirror measure was taken in response to Washington's May decision to limit Russian uranium imports until 2027. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov indicated that it would not harm Russian interests.
Rosatom state corporation noted on Nov. 18 that the Russian restrictions are expected and are within the legal framework. Igor Yushkov, a leading analyst at the National Energy Security Fund, predicted in a conversation with Izvestia that they would lead to an increase in prices for enriched uranium in the United States and reduce the profitability of U.S. nuclear power plants.
