- Russian ambassador disclosed the amount of Norway's income due to displacement of Russian gas

Norway has earned more than $115 billion by displacing Russian gas supplies in the European Union, Russian Ambassador to the country Nikolai Korchunov said on November 30.
"Norwegians have earned solidly on the displacement of Russian gas in Europe, securing for themselves due to high prices more than $115 billion in super profits," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
The diplomat recalled that Norway joined all the packages of anti-Russian sanctions of Brussels with some exceptions. In general, these measures have affected the country's economy in a dual way, the ambassador noted.
In particular, Korchunov pointed to the dismantling, on Oslo's initiative, of bilateral trade and economic relations. According to him, Norwegian companies have completely ceased operations in Russia, and trade between the two countries is limited to a narrow list of non-sanctioned goods and is at a minimum level.
Among the most severely affected Norwegian companies, the diplomat named ship repair companies in the north of the country. Due to the pressure of their government, they had to refuse to repair and service Russian fishing vessels and dismiss many employees, Korchunov said.
Earlier, on November 27, Bloomberg agency predicted the coldest winter for Europe since the refusal of European countries from gas from Russia. According to the agency, because of this, energy prices will rise and energy risks will increase.
Before that, Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller said at the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum in October that Europe's policy in the gas market could lead to a new gas price shock and supply disruptions. He called the situation on the European gas market bad and agreed with the assessment that the demand for energy resources there is being destroyed purposefully.
In May, it was reported that Norwegian oil and gas company Equinor ASA became the main gas supplier to the European Union instead of Russia's Gazprom. Analysts called the association's dependence on gas from Norway dangerous for the bloc because of possible price hikes in case of a supply disruption.
