The Polish Embassy in Cyprus is outraged by the reminder of the liberation of Warsaw by Soviet troops during World War II. This was reported by the Polish diplomatic mission on November 29 in the network X (former Twitter).

It is specified that on November 28, a banner with the inscription "The Red Army liberated Warsaw" appeared at the match between the soccer club Omonia from Nicosia and Legia Warsaw.

"We can see that Omonia fans are interested in Polish history, but remember: the Red Army withdrew the German occupation troops from Poland in 1945 and remained there for almost 50 years. Both in history and in sports there is no room for inaccuracy," commented Polish Foreign Ministry officials on the X network.

Earlier, on September 15, Polish President Andrzej Duda approved the idea to oblige Moscow to pay reparations to Warsaw. According to the Polish leader, the losses incurred by Poland during the war amount to 6.2 billion zlotys - about $1.3 trillion.

On September 19, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on Duda's idea of reparations. According to him, such ideas only harm the country's prestige and significantly complicate contacts not only with Russia but also with Polish allies.
