Russia and Vietnam discuss cooperation on information security

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin has met in Moscow with Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Public Security Pham Theung to discuss cooperation on international information security (IIS) within the UN framework. This is reported on November 29 on the official portal of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The ministers noted the importance of approving the draft UN Convention against Cybercrime and its early entry into force.

Vershinin and Tung expressed readiness to strengthen coordination to agree on the parameters of a permanent negotiating mechanism on the IIB issues at the UN after 2025. They also emphasized the importance of working together on information technology regulation within the framework of the International Telecommunication Union.

The ministers agreed to meet next year to continue the dialog on IIB.

Earlier, on November 26, on the instructions of the government, the Russian Ministry of Digitization together with law enforcement agencies and the Central Bank of the Russian Federation developed a package of bills aimed at protecting Russians from fraudulent schemes using information technologies. 30 measures are envisaged.

Earlier, on October 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh that the political dialog between Russia and Vietnam is intense and meaningful.
