The United Kingdom's line to supply the Ukrainian Armed Forces with long-range Storm Shadow missiles may lead to an increase in strategic risks and even to a clash of nuclear powers. This was stated by Russian Ambassador to the United Kingdom Andrei Kelin on November 29 on air of the Rossiya-24 TV channel .

"I note that the British completely ignored all warning signals from our side and moved to sharp escalation actions to further deepen the Ukrainian crisis. And this is fraught, of course, with an increase in strategic risks and, in the worst case, with a clash of nuclear powers," he said.

The diplomat emphasized that Britain's policy speaks of its direct involvement in the Ukrainian conflict against the Russian side.

"We believe that Britain, like other countries, is now involved in an armed conflict together with Ukraine against us," Kelin pointed out.

Before that, on November 21, Kelin already pointed out that London is directly involved in the Ukrainian conflict. Then the diplomat also recommended that the West subject Russia's updated doctrine on nuclear deterrence to a thorough analysis in order for them to correctly assess the risks of escalation.

In the same month, French newspaper Le Monde noted that the AFU could not use Western long-range missiles to strike Russian territory without Western support on the ground. According to the newspaper, British Storm Shadow long-range cruise missiles and French SCALP missiles must be pre-programmed before being loaded onto Ukrainian Air Force Su-24 bombers. The newspaper did not specify what exactly "Western support on the ground" means.

Back in June, Russian President Vladimir Putin pointed out that the Ukrainian military cannot independently dispose of Western weapons. These tasks are supervised by Western advisers, such as those from the US and the UK.

Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine amid Russia's special operation to protect Donbass, which began on February 24, 2022. The decision to conduct this operation was taken by the Russian president because of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to the increased shelling by Ukrainian troops.
