Russian Embassy in Argentina contacted passengers of defective airliner


The Russian embassy in Argentina is aware of the incident with a cruise liner that stalled on the way to Antarctica, with tourists from Russia on board. This was reported in the diplomatic mission on November 29, adding that they have already contacted its organizers and Russians.
"We are currently dealing with the essence of the claims of Russian citizens, some of whom have confirmed that they are on hunger strike. To help resolve the situation, our contacts in the province of Tierra del Fuego, where they expect the arrival of the liner on December 1," TASS quoted the embassy's message as saying.
The situation is under control of the crew and coastal services, the agency reports. It is noted that the lives of passengers are not threatened.
The embassy emphasized that contacts in Argentina were involved to help resolve the incident.
On the eve, November 28, it became known that more than 170 passengers, including Russian tourists, were stuck on the cruise liner SH Diana on the way to Antarctica due to engine malfunctions. The company's management promised to compensate half of the cost of the tour, the protesting Russians are demanding full compensation. Due to the fact that technical problems interrupted their trip, tourists from Russia went on hunger strike.
On November 29, Natalia, a passenger of the liner, told Izvestia that the captain of the ship did not notify the Russian Embassy about the Russians on board on hunger strike.
