The far-right party Alternative for Germany (AdG) does not have the opportunity to implement the idea of the country's withdrawal from the European Union (EU), but such initiatives may improve its results in the elections. This was stated by Evgenia Pimenova, a historian, political scientist and Germanist, PhD in history, to Izvestia on November 29.

Earlier in the day, the German edition Der Spiegel, referring to the AdG's election program, reported that the party sees a necessary exit of the FRG from the EU and wants to replace the association with a "group of economic interests", as well as to introduce a national currency.

"The AdG has no real political platform to realize these ideas. The ruling elites of the FRG are politicians deeply integrated into transatlantic ties. <...> Undoubtedly, the AdG feels the voters' demand for radical change, their political fatigue and disillusionment with traditional parties. And that is why they "raise the degree", - commented the Germanist.

Thus, she emphasized, Germans want confidence, stability, clear prospects, but instead - an acute government crisis, the threat of a large-scale conflict in Europe and economic difficulties.

Currently, the forecast for the AdG in the federal elections, according to polls, fluctuates around 16-18%. At the same time, none of the major parties will form a coalition with them, said the newspaper's interlocutor. However, if, thanks to such sharp program proposals, the AdG manages to significantly improve its election results, it will be a serious signal to the German establishment and an indicator of a deep ideological and political crisis, Pimenova concluded.

Earlier, on November 17, Bundestag deputy Rainer Rothfuss told Izvestia that BRICS could become an alternative to the European Union for Germany. He noted that the BRICS model of cooperation, which preserves sovereignty for each state, is different from the EU model and that this is exactly the kind of cooperation that the AdG would like to see instead of the EU.

It is not only German politicians who have called for leaving the EU. For example, in August, the leader of the French Patriots party, Florian Philippot, called on France to leave the EU and stop financing Ukraine.
