US predicts EU to lose allies over Trump's new special envoy on Ukraine

US President-elect Donald Trump's decision to appoint Keith Kellogg as special envoy for Ukraine may leave the European Union (EU) without US allies. The Bloomberg news agency wrote about this on 28 November, concluding that in this case the EU countries will carry out further financial support for Ukraine on their own.
It is noted that at the moment the main military aid to Kiev already comes mainly from the EU. In particular, the increase in the production of ammunition and artillery comes at the expense of the German holding company Rheinmetall AG and the French-German company KNDS.
"Europe should "be ready to replace at least part of American support for Ukraine," the agency quoted Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk as saying at a meeting with colleagues from the Baltic and Northern European countries.
A source close to the European Parliament (EP) noted in a conversation with the agency that the main challenge would be to secure such arms supplies. Therefore, at present, the United States is still the largest sponsor for Kiev, Gazeta.Ru adds.
Earlier, on November 27, Kellogg expressed his readiness to establish peace in the Ukrainian conflict through force. He added that he is ready to show dedication and commitment worthy of his new post. At the same time, Der Spiegel magazine reported on November 28 that Kellogg will face an almost impossible mission in his new position and is unlikely to be able to cope with it. The publication noted that Trump's promises of a quick settlement of the Ukrainian conflict, sounded during the election campaign, were very bombastic.
Before that, on 11 November, political analyst and senior lecturer at the Russian Foreign Ministry's MGIMO Alexei Zudin told Izvestiya that if Trump refuses to continue funding Ukraine, Kiev's European partners will not be able to replace the lost amount of aid.
The Ukrainian daily Strana.ua reported that Trump had destroyed Ukraine's hope for the presence of a lobbyist for the Kiev regime's interests in the US government by deciding not to invite former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to his team.
The election of the 47th president of the United States was held on November 5. In the popular vote, Trump received 51% of the vote, while Democratic candidate Kamala Harris received 47.4%. Speaking to supporters, the Republican said that his goal as head of state considers the end of military conflicts in the world.
