DPR court arrests in absentia an AFU mercenary from Georgia

A court in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR) has arrested 32-year-old Georgian mercenary Ramazi Zhangidze in absentia. This was reported by the regional prosecutor's office on November 29.
The man was found guilty under Part 3 of Article 359 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Participation of a mercenary in an armed conflict").
It was established that he voluntarily joined the "Georgian National Legion" (a terrorist organization banned in Russia), after which he participated in hostilities on the Ukrainian side, having undergone military training and received weapons, uniforms and equipment. He received a reward equivalent to more than 7.1 million rubles for his participation in combat operations.
"Zhangidze has been put on an international wanted list and a measure of restraint in the form of remand in custody has been chosen in absentia by the court against him," the agency said in a statement.
For further consideration, the case was sent to the Supreme Court of the DNR.
The day before, on November 28, the court of the DNR sentenced in absentia to 14 years in prison a mercenary of the AFU from the USA Charles Albert Carter. Carter took part in hostilities on the side of Ukraine from March 2022 to August 2024 in various points of contact, for which he received a reward of over 2.3 million rubles.
