New automobile brand Rox will appear in Russia

In December 2024, sales of hybrid premium SUVs under the Rox brand will start in Russia. The importer and distributor of the cars will be Hyperion Leasing (Tianjin), a subsidiary of the Chinese concern Sinomach Auto. This is stated in the company's message, which is available to Izvestia on November 29.

Sales of cars will start in dealership centers of Oting auto brand. Representatives of the concern said that the Rox Motor 01 model will be certified and will receive the Vehicle Type Approval (VTA), the cars will be covered by the factory warranty. In the Chinese market, Rox Motor cars are known as Jishi ("polar stone" in translation). Previously, the cars were supplied to Russia under the scheme of "gray import" without warranty and were called "Jishi" or Polar Stone, the company noted.

The Rox 01 is a sequential hybrid. The SUV is equipped with two electric motors and a 1.5-liter gasoline internal combustion engine, which works as a generator. The total power is 476 hp, acceleration to 100 km/h takes 5.5 seconds, and the range in hybrid mode reaches 1338 km. The length of the model is 5295 mm with a wheelbase of 3010 mm. The SUV has a three-row seating layout in all configurations. Prices and equipment will be announced in December.

Rox Motor was founded by the CEO of robotic vacuum cleaner manufacturer Roborock in 2021, it focused on creating autonomous driving systems and later decided to enter the hybrid car segment. The Italian studio Pininfarina was responsible for the design of the crossover, and the Beijing Automobile Works (BAW) was responsible for the production of the model.

On October 17, Sinomach presented in Russia a new model Oting Palasso, based on Nissan Navara. Sales of the model are scheduled for the first quarter of 2025, it will be the second in the brand's lineup after the Paladin SUV, which is produced on the platform of Nissan Terra. The vehicles are produced at the Zhengzhou Nissan plant in China (a joint venture of Japanese Nissan and Chinese Dongfeng).
