More than half of Russians said they believe in New Year's miracle


More than half of the Russians surveyed believe in the New Year miracle. The relevant results of the survey conducted by the job search and recruitment service "Work.ru" were reported by Izvestia on November 29.
"59% of Russians believe that they can get an unexpected gift or become a lottery winner on New Year's Eve. Of them, more than a third (35%) consider themselves absolute lucky," the service's press service reported.
At the same time, the remaining 41% deny the possibility of a New Year miracle, especially material gifts. In addition, 23% of respondents believe that people who have received a large cash winnings are unhappy, because they have to pass the test of money.
To a greater extent, the survey participants believe that the most important luck in life is not related to money, such as having children (20%), meeting a loved one (15%) or a sudden promotion at work (13%).
However, 68% of Russians believe that other people are luckier than they are. Thus, 36% of respondents said that they have only one or two friends who are always lucky, and 25.1% know three or more lucky people. At the same time, in almost half of cases, 49%, luck has helped Russians at least once to avoid trouble or easily get out of difficult life situations.
The most frequent believers in their luck are specialists in finance - 45.3%, transportation and logistics - 11.8%, retail trade - 10.8%, information technology - 8.5% and construction - 6.6%. Among other things, it is specified that, according to data on winnings in national lotteries over the past two years, the prize fund over 50 million rubles was most often taken by fitters and representatives of working professions - seven wins in 2023-2024, as well as employees of the transport and logistics sector - three wins in 2023-2024.
"Having analyzed the data of respondents by gender, age, sphere and type of employment, analysts of the service "Work.ru" presented a portrait of "lucky man" - a man aged 46 to 50 years old, living in Moscow (St. Petersburg or Kazan), employed in finance and banking or in retail trade," - stated in the results of the survey.
It is noted that the survey was conducted in mid-November this year by online questionnaire among 1259 Russians, residents of 17 Russian cities with a population of over 1 million people.
On the eve were published the results of the survey on the subject of what gifts for the New Year expect Russians. Thus, every fifth dreams of a trip to a vacation, another 18% - about money.
Earlier, on November 26, the survey showed that Russians on New Year's Eve prefer surprises to ordered gifts. More than a third of Russians (38%) want to receive a gift for the New Year from their partner as a surprise, 25% would prefer a hint.
