Russian literary scholar Yuri Barabash has died at the age of 93


Yury Barabash, Russian literary scholar, chief researcher of the department of literatures of the peoples of Russia and the CIS, Doctor of Philological Sciences, died at the age of 94. This is reported on November 29 on the website of the Gorky Institute of World Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
"Yuri Yakovlevich was a wonderful man - sensitive, attentive; he was always ready to come to the aid of a newcomer and was able to rejoice in the successes of his colleagues and comrades. His departure is an irreparable loss for the national science and a huge loss for his loved ones and all who knew him," the message reads.
Barabash was born on August 10, 1931 in Kharkov. He authored more than 35 books, also co-authored in collective scientific works, periodicals in Russian and Ukrainian languages. Many of his works translated from Russian and Ukrainian languages were published in Slovak, Hungarian, Bulgarian, German, Polish, English and other languages.
