From 2025, Russian pensioners will be able to count on positive changes in their financial support thanks to innovations in the pension system and the expansion of social benefits, David Adams, general director of the AID professional legal group and lawyer, told Izvestia on December 1.

"One of the main changes will be the indexation of insurance pensions by 7.3%. This step is aimed at maintaining the purchasing power of pensioners in the face of inflation and will cover both working and non-working citizens. After indexation, the average old-age insurance pension will reach about Br24.059 per month," said the expert.

The lawyer specified that such an increase will be the first increase in payments for working pensioners since 2015, which will be an important step in ensuring the fairness of the system.

In addition, from 2025, pensioners who have reached the age of 80 and people with disability of group I will receive an additional payment of Br1.2 thousand. This compensation will become automatic - the pensioner will not need to apply, as the Social Fund of Russia will independently process data from federal databases.

"The supplementary payment will be indexed annually, which will ensure its relevance in the long term. Even if no one actually cares for a pensioner in need, he or she will still receive this amount as a supplement to the basic pension," Adams explained.

Another significant innovation concerns insurance pensions for loss of breadwinner: widows and widowers of servicemen raising their children will be entitled to this pension. This expansion of the categories of recipients is aimed at strengthening social support for military families, the expert emphasized.

"In addition to changes in pension payments, the process of receiving supplements and recalculations of pensions will be simplified in 2025. Pensioners will no longer be obliged to apply for recalculation - all procedures will be carried out automatically on the basis of data that are already available to social security bodies," - added Adams.

Earlier, November 19, it was reported that the average pension of working Russians increased by 10% for the year. As of October it amounted to 19.2 thousand, follows from the statistics of the Social Fund. The growth of payments for workers was faster than for unemployed citizens (7.3%), and it also outpaced inflation.
