Patrushev outlined the main tasks of the Maritime Collegium Council's activities


It is necessary to develop and implement tools for integrated management of maritime activities aimed at protecting Russia's national interests. This was stated on November 29 by Nikolai Patrushev, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Maritime Collegium.
"<...> The significance of the Maritime Board's activities, its contribution to the country's economic development requires that when forming management decisions in this area, the issues of protection of national interests, economy, scientific research, development of new maritime technologies and personnel training should be considered in an inseparable connection," he said at the first meeting of the Council on Ensuring and Developing Maritime Activities of the Maritime Board of Russia.
Patrushev also noted the importance of using international experience to expand the tools, forms and methods of maritime activity management.
"Given that the maritime sector of the economy makes a significant contribution to economic development, it is necessary to use positive foreign experience, relying on our own capabilities and scientific potential, to expand the arsenal of tools, forms and methods of maritime activity management," he said.
In addition, according to the presidential aide, it is necessary to take into account Russia's national interests in the World Ocean, to analyze the state and trends in the development of maritime activities both in Russia and abroad. It is also important to assess and identify threats to national security in this sphere, the chairman added.
"These are the main tasks the council's activities should be aimed at solving. I count on the active participation of all council members in the upcoming work," Patrushev concluded.
Earlier, on November 26, approved the regulations on the Scientific and Expert Council of the Maritime Board. It included more than 50 representatives of research institutions, educational organizations, departments and enterprises involved in the maritime sphere. The council was headed by Kovalchuk.
Prior to that, on November 25, Patrushev suggested that the president of the national research center "Kurchatov Institute" Mikhail Kovalchuk should head the scientific-expert council.
