AdG party favors resumption of trade with Russia

The party "Alternative for Germany" (AdG) has added to the final draft of its election program a call for the resumption of trade with Russia and Russian gas supplies to Germany. This was reported on November 29 by Der Spiegel magazine, referring to the text of the document.

It is specified that the AdG draft devotes several pages to security policy.

"Russia appears in it as a supplier of cheap gas, trade with which should be resumed," - said the magazine.

According to the publication, the conflict in Ukraine is not mentioned in the document.

The leadership proposal is to be considered and adopted at the AdG Federal Party Congress in January.

The German government failed to agree on overcoming the economic crisis, which led to the resignation of Finance Minister Christian Lindner, leader of the Free Democratic Party (FDP), on November 6. His dismissal led to the collapse of the ruling "traffic light" coalition consisting of the FDP, the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD), and the Union 90/Green. Early elections will be held in the country.

At the same time, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that in early 2025 in the Bundestag will raise the question of a vote of confidence in the government. Later it was reported that early elections to the Parliament of the Federal Republic of Germany may be held on February 23, 2025.

Before that, on September 23, Evgenia Pimenova, a German political scientist and candidate of historical sciences, shared with Izvestia that the extreme right-wing party AdG showed an impressive result in the elections in Brandenburg, although it was overtaken by the Social Democratic Party (SPD) headed by Chancellor Olaf Scholz by a small margin. Thus, the AdG became increasingly difficult to ignore at the federal level, the historian said.
