The Western establishment is developing various scenarios for Ukraine against the backdrop of Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential election. The option under which the country's territory will be divided between Western countries is also being widely discussed. This was stated by political scientist Alexander Asafov in a conversation with Izvestia on November 29.

"I assume that there are several strategies <...>, the story with the variant of the development of events as the distribution of Ukraine's regions under the control of Western countries with the introduction of a military component is also being discussed quite widely," he said.

In addition, the newspaper's interlocutor recalled the statement made by former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson the previous day. The British politician confirmed that the West is "waging war with other people's hands" and did not rule out the introduction of European peacekeepers to Ukraine.

"[Johnson's statement] is also about control. These topics are not only of military and political strategic importance, but also, being discussed, create a certain background that should formalize the Western ideas that will be proposed to Trump," the expert said.

According to him, it is currently unclear what Trump's steps on the Ukrainian issue will be after he takes office, which is why different scenarios are being developed. At the same time, Asafov emphasized, the thoughts of Western politicians about the division of Ukraine have nothing to do with reality, as it is senseless to solve such issues without Russia.

Also on Friday, the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) said that NATO plans to occupy the territory of Ukraine. It was specified that Great Britain, Romania, Poland and Germany will take part in the division of territories.

Earlier in the day, the SVR pointed out that there is a growing opinion in NATO about the need for a temporary cessation of the Ukrainian conflict in order to restore the combat capability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and the subsequent repeat offensive. The SVR noted that NATO training centers are being set up for this purpose, where it is planned to train at least one million mobilized personnel.

Before that, on November 2, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said that Ukraine would be in Western bondage for dozens of years and pay for the debts with its residents and territories. She added that those Ukrainians who are fit to provide services to Western Europe, Canada or the USA will be kept, while those who are "unsuitable from the NATO point of view will be wasted".

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
