The number of accidents involving drunk drivers has decreased in EAO

The number of road accidents has increased since the beginning of 2024 in EAO. At the same time, the number of accidents involving drunk drivers has significantly decreased. The death rate on the roads is still high. Thus, since the beginning of the year 16 people died in road accidents, 211 people were injured.

As EAOMedia IA was informed in the regional prosecutor's office, these figures were voiced at the board meeting, which was held by EAO prosecutor Zaurbek Dzhankhotov. It discussed the results of supervision over the implementation of legislation in the field of safe road traffic.

It was noted that despite the measures taken, the situation in the field of safety requires increased activity of supervisory activity of prosecutors. Dzhankhotov demanded to take measures and strengthen control over compliance with the legislation in this area.

Earlier it was reported that from January to October this year in Russia there were 18.3% more accidents caused by motorcyclists (4.9 thousand incidents) than in the same period last year. In ten months, the death rate in such accidents increased by 21.2% (571 dead), the number of injured increased by 18.6% (5.2 thousand people). Among the regions leading in the number of road accidents were Krasnodar Krai and Moscow.
