Russian parachutists in three pairs left an airplane from the stratosphere for the first time in the world. This was reported on November 29 in the press service of Rostec.

According to the state corporation, the landing was organized with new parachute systems "Tandem-400". During this jump several records were set. According to the press service, the landing was made from a height of more than 10 thousand meters.

"Parachutists parachuted from the An-72 airplane at a speed of 350 km/h. The temperature overboard was -57 ° C. The testers spent about 30 minutes in the air and the whole group landed in the established square," Rostec said in a statement.

As noted in the press service, the peculiarity of the jump was that the opening of the parachutes occurred almost under the tail of the aircraft at an altitude of 10 thousand meters. m.

The landing, which was recorded in the Book of Records of Russia, was performed by three pairs of test parachutists of the State Flight Test Center of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation: Andrey Toporkov paired with Andrey Morozov, Maxim Sitaylo - Yuri Koloskov, as well as Yuri Mironov and Alexei Egorov.

"The peculiarity of the Tandem-400 is that the system allows an untrained person <...> to parachute in pairs with an instructor. The parachute system developed by Rostec specialists covers all the needs currently faced by specialists of search and rescue and special purpose groups," said Andrei Toporkov, head of the department, senior test parachutist of the 929 GLITC of the Russian Defense Ministry.

In October 2023, 104-year-old Chicago resident Dorothy Hoffner made a parachute jump to enter the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest parachutist. The jump was performed in tandem with an instructor from a height of about 4.1 thousand meters, it lasted about seven minutes.
