Natalia, the wife of the head of a social center in Altai Krai, said that the infection that killed three people could have been brought in by one of the residents of the center. She told Izvestia on Friday, November 29.
"We had a man. Entered, not long he stayed with us and fell ill. We assume that he, because it all started with him. He died, and two days later everything started," she said.
According to the woman, after the incident, all the other guests started complaining of feeling unwell. The owners repeatedly called an ambulance, but it was stopped from being sent because there was no infectious disease specialist in the village and the risk of infecting other people at the clinic, she said.
Natalia said her husband was not involved in the incident as he was on a business trip at the time. She also suggested that the poisoning might not have been caused by the food.
