Russia became the guest of honor at the international tourism fair FITVEN 2024, which opened on November 28 in Venezuela in the city of San Cristobal. This is reported by Venezolana de Televisión TV channel.

The opening of the fair was held with the participation of the Executive Vice President of Venezuela Delcy Rodriguez and Minister of Tourism Leticia Gomez. Russian Ambassador Sergey Melik-Bagdasarov also attended the opening ceremony.

"FITVEN is a key platform to promote mutual tourist exchange and demonstrate Russia's unique opportunities as a tourist destination," the diplomat said.

In addition, he expressed gratitude to the government of the republic "for the honor of becoming the country - the guest of honor of the international tourism fair in the year when Russia holds the BRICS presidency."

Melik-Baghdasarov added that the annual tourist fairs are held in different regions of Venezuela and it provides an opportunity to learn the multinational culture of the Latin American country.

Earlier, on November 22, "Izvestia" in the Russian Embassy in Caracas reported about working out the terms of the visit of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

Nicolas Maduro met with Vladimir Putin in October 2024 during the BRICS summit in Kazan.
