At least 20 people have died after a boat capsized in northern Cameroon. This is reported on Thursday, November 28, the agency Xinhua.

Eyewitnesses told the agency that the boat overturned while carrying passengers from Darak Island in the Logone e Shari region.

According to local media, more casualties are expected as rescuers are still searching for the missing.

Meanwhile, an official investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the accident.

Earlier, on October 1, Taiwanese rescuers evacuated 19 sailors, including three Russians, from a sinking cargo ship near Lanyu Island. The bulk carrier Blue Lagoon was traveling under the flag of Barbados. The crew discovered a leak in the engine compartment 18 miles from shore and decided to abandon ship.
