Costa Rica invited to join the Trans-Pacific Partnership

Costa Rica has received an invitation to join the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement. This was reported by Reuters on November 28.
The Foreign Ministry said that Costa Rica must be evaluated by the partnership's member countries and negotiate market access conditions for its goods and services.
"This will provide Costa Rica with a unique opportunity to enter the markets of countries with which it does not yet have trade agreements on preferential terms," the ministry said in a statement to Japan, Australia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Brunei and Vietnam.
In July, the UK signed an agreement to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). Thus, the UK became the first European country to join the bloc, which includes Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore and Vietnam, since its formation in 2018.
