Denmark will fully legalize medical cannabis from 2026

In Denmark, a temporary law allowing doctors to prescribe medical cannabis will become permanent and become fully effective from 2026. This was reported by the Ministry of Health of the Kingdom on Thursday, November 28.
"The government and the overwhelming majority of the Folketing (parliament. - Ed.) today concluded a new political agreement that makes the receptor-fueled medical cannabis scheme permanent from 2026, when the current trial scheme expires," the ministry said in a statement.
Doctors were allowed to prescribe the drug between 2018 and 2025. The purpose of the innovation was to ensure that patients experiencing severe pain who have already tried other medications and who have not seen improvement can have access to cannabis.
Above all, these are patients suffering from multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injuries, cancer or chronic pain.
In February, the Bundestag passed a bill to partially legalize cannabis in Germany.Partial legalization of cannabis in 2021 was included in the coalition agreement of the current German authorities. Health Minister Karl Lauterbach considers the new bill a forced measure. In his opinion, it will allow the state to protect citizens from more dangerous smoking mixtures and other drugs.
