The Canadian antitrust regulator sued the American company Google, accusing it of abusing its dominant position in the field of web advertising. This was reported on November 28 by Canada's antitrust bureau.

"The bureau's investigation found that in Canada Google, as the largest provider of the entire web advertising technology stack, abuses its dominant position through conduct designed to preserve and enhance its market power," the bureau's press office informed.

It is alleged that Google by its behavior restricts market participants in the use of its own advertising technology tools, thereby distorting the competitive process.

In its statement in the lawsuit, the regulator seeks an order that requires Google to pay a fine to enforce competition law and stop engaging in anticompetitive practices.

Earlier on Nov. 21, the U.S. Justice Department, through the court, demanded that Google-owned Alphabet Corporation sell off its Chrome browser to combat its monopoly in online search. It is also proposed to ban Google from re-entering the browser market for five years, buying competitors and contracting to install the default search engine on mobile devices.
