The Republic of Chad terminates the revised defense cooperation agreement with France from 2019. The country's Foreign Minister Abderaman Koulamallah said in a statement on November 28.

"The government of the Republic of Chad informs the national and international public of its decision to terminate the defense agreement signed with the French Republic," Kulamallah notified in a statement on the ministry's official Facebook page (owned by Meta Corporation, banned in Russia and recognized as extremist).

The statement said Chad wants to fully assert its sovereignty and renegotiate strategic partnerships after 66 years of independence.

Earlier, on November 27, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov spoke about modern practices of neocolonialism. He said that they are aimed at siphoning off the resources of Asian, African and Latin American countries for the sake of preserving the dominance of the West and maintaining a high standard of living for its population.

In September, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova linked the BRICS expansion to the world's struggle against Western neocolonialism. According to her, the doubling of the number of BRICS member countries indicates the determination of the world community to throw off the yoke of neocolonial oppression, develop in accordance with its national interests, preserve the traditions of civilization and prevent the destructive influence of Western liberal dictatorship.
