The case of the death of a newborn baby in Chelyabinsk was asked to be taken up by the Prosecutor General's Office

Dmitry Ershov, the father of a child who died in a hospital in Chelyabinsk, intends to obtain detailed reasons for his death after a second forensic medical examination - for this purpose, he appealed to the Prosecutor General's Office, Izvestia found out. There he was promised that they will conduct a check, as well as take the case under control.

The investigation into the death of a newborn in the Chelyabinsk hospital has been underway for two years. The boy was born in late September 2022 prematurely, but, according to his parents, healthy. However, just two weeks later, the child passed away.

In December 2022, a criminal case was opened. It included an article on causing death by negligence due to improper performance of professional duties. However, after the parents appealed to the head of the Investigative Committee, the case was reclassified to the article on negligence.

Forensic medical examination was carried out in the SEC of the IC of Russia in Yekaterinburg, but the parents have complaints about the way the investigation was conducted.

"Lost materials from the criminal case, audio recordings that confirm the negligence of medical workers in the death of our child. Histology materials from the corpse are missing," said Dmitry Ershov.

In May 2024, the child's body was exhumed for a second forensic medical examination. In the Investigative Committee "Izvestia" reported that the criminal case on the fact of the death of a minor in one of the medical institutions of Chelyabinsk is in production.
