US embassy confirms contacts with Moscow on prisoners

Russia and the United States continue to maintain contacts on the exchange of prisoners. This was told to "Izvestia" in the American embassy in Moscow.

"Washington representatives interact with their Russian colleagues on many consular issues, including the issues of citizens in detention," the US diplomatic mission said.

At the same time, there did not spread on the topic of a new possible exchange between the countries.

"Due to the sensitive nature, we cannot comment or speculate on the topic of potential negotiations," US diplomats clarified.

The media reported that a potential exchange between Russia and the US could take place in February 2025, already under the administration of US President-elect Donald Trump. The Russian and American sides, however, have not officially commented on this issue.
