"Izvestia" opened voting for symbols for the new thousand-dollar bill

On Thursday, November 28, the Central Bank presented 25 sites in the Volga Federal District (Volga Federal District), which will participate in the popular vote (to be held from November 29 to December 12) on the choice of symbols for the design of the back side of the 1,000 banknote.
"Izvestia" also launches the next stage of our project "New banknotes" - for the first time it was held in 2021, when we chose landmarks for 5 thousand and 1 thousand. Already on November 28, we opened a vote in social networks, which will last until December 5.
Among the symbols presented for the choice: the monument to Salavat Yulaev in Ufa, the building of the Vyatka Art Museum in Kirov, the main building of Kazan Federal University, Zhigulevskaya HPP on the Volga in the Samara region, the Museum and Exhibition Center "Samara Space", the Monument of the Mother Protector in Cheboksary, the Monument of Glory in Samara, the Museum of History of Orenburg, several museum-estates, which are associated with Pushkin, Tchaikovsky, the Family Center in Kazan, etc. As in the conditions of the Central Bank, you can give your vote for only one object.
Last fall, the Central Bank put an updated thousand-dollar bill into circulation, and a couple of days later recalled it because the image on the back caused a great public outcry. There was no cross on the former Christian church located on the territory of the Kazan Kremlin, and the Muslim tower was crowned with a crescent moon. Because of the mixed reaction in society to the previous design, the Central Bank decided to abandon the image of religious buildings on banknotes.
According to the results of several hours of voting on new objects for a thousand, on Thursday among the readers of Izvestia, the Museum and Exhibition Center "Samara Space" is still in the lead.
