In the Vologda Oblast, the law on limiting the sale of alcohol was approved

The Vologda Zaksoobrazhdan adopted a regional law on limiting the retail sale of alcohol and reducing retail sales on weekdays to two hours a day. This was reported by the Deputy Governor of the region Sergey Sorokin on Thursday, November 28.
The restrictions will come into force on March 1, 2025 and are estimated not to affect the legal business. The adoption of the law was preceded by a broad public discussion. Including it was considered at public hearings in the Public Chamber of the region, where it was approved by activists and experts, specified on the website of the Parliament of the region.
"From March 1, 2025 it is proposed to introduce the following additional restrictions: prohibition of alcohol sales in retail facilities that are located in the premises of apartment buildings, in the basement, basement, underground floors of apartment buildings. Prohibition of alcohol sales from 8:00 to 12:00 and from 14:00 to 23:00 hours from Monday to Friday," said Sorokin.
The ban will not be in effect during the New Year's holiday season, as there is a federal nighttime ban on sales from 23:00 to 8:00.
As Sorokin explained, restaurants and catering facilities in theaters and hotels will be able to sell alcohol without time restrictions.
Earlier, on October 29, the Governor of the Vologda region Georgy Filimonov said that the region plans to limit the sale of alcohol to two hours a day, recalls "Gazeta.Ru". So, from March 1, 2025 alcohol may start selling from 12:00 to 14:00 on weekdays, and the usual mode will remain on weekends and holidays. Filimonov explained such a decision by the high mortality rate in the region.
On the same day, the head of the Sverdlovsk region's parliament, Lyudmila Babushkina, said that the regional authorities are considering the introduction of a complete ban on the sale of alcohol in the region. According to her, the deputies were asked to do so by local residents.
As Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on October 30, the introduction of a dry law in the Vologda region is the prerogative of regional authorities. He noted that there was no discussion on this topic in the presidential administration.
