UK-based AFU mercenary Anderson told how he was captured in Kursk region

British mercenary James Scott Rhys Anderson, who was captured in the Kursk border region, has said that the Russian military captured him at the "first contact". He said this to journalists on Thursday, November 28, the footage of the mercenary is published by Izvestia.
According to the militant himself, the Ukrainian side had a briefing with him in advance about his actions in the region.
"I was part of the invasion battalion. We crossed [the border] on November 15. I did not see the route. <...> Our task was to hold three positions. I was there for a week," Anderson recounted.
He noted that he did not know the unit's combat mission, but it was probably to prevent the Russian army from advancing into the settlement.
At the same time, Anderson refused to say anything about the killings of civilians in the region by Ukrainian militants and foreign mercenaries.
"I didn't know there was such a thing. Maybe this is something that was kept from us. I don't know," the militant said.
The criminal case against the mercenary was initiated and is being investigated by the Main Military Investigation Directorate of the IC of Russia.
Before that, on November 24, it became known that a mercenary from the UK was taken prisoner by the Russian military on the Kursk direction. The Foreign Minister of the United Kingdom David Lammy said the next day that the authorities would do everything possible to support him. On November 26, the Leninsky District Court of Kursk took Anderson into custody.
Ukrainian militants attacked Russian positions in border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The operation to destroy the AFU continues.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
