Europe is now "screwed" without Russian scientists, to whom it forbids joint projects. This conclusion was made on November 28 by Mikhail Kovalchuk, president of the Kurchatov Institute national research center Mikhail Kovalchuk.

Speaking at the plenary session of the IV Congress of Young Scientists, he noted that the European scientific program was once practically created thanks to the contribution of the Russian side.

"You will see how it is now screwed up when we were kicked out of there, I will allow myself to say that," he concluded.

The president of the Kurchatov Institute noted that Russia today has restored and brought to a qualitatively new level the competences possessed by Soviet scientists.

"We have restored all the competencies that we had in the Soviet Union, bringing them to a qualitatively new, much more modern level. And this is the most important achievement, with which I want to congratulate all of us," Kovalchuk added.

Earlier, on November 11, the head of the Kurchatov Institute drew attention to the fact that Russian science has a huge potential and the country has achieved technological power, which "grew out of the atomic project". Kovalchuk emphasized that Russia remains strong in all sectors where it has achieved leadership, for example, in the field of hypersonic technologies.

Before that, on November 4, the head of the SIC emphasized the importance of a multipolar world for the development of science. Kovalchuk believes that the commercial use of any achievements can be kept secret, but the scientific discoveries themselves should be available to any state.
