Another "Hamlet", another "Queen of Spades", another "Little Red Riding Hood" and another love triangle.... It would seem that it is time to start complaining about stagnation and routine on the stage, but not everything is so unambiguous. The capital's theaters will manage to surprise you and show the hackneyed stories freshly and topically. Critic Vlad Vasyukhin - about the most interesting premieres of November, especially for "Izvestia".

"The Abduction of ES"

Late in the fall, the audience is especially in need of positive emotions. Such a "vitamin" appeared at the Mossovet Theater. Mossovet, where they played a comedy "with ballet and synchronized swimming" on the stage "Under the Roof". Director Tatyana Arkhiptsova embodied Pyotr Gladilin's play "The Abduction of Sabinyaninov" in an effective and minimalistic way.

In 2007, when this almost absurdist story was staged for the first time, it was played by honored and popular - Lyudmila Gurchenko, Larisa Udovichenko and Vladimir Sterzhakov. There are no star and media names in the Mossoviet version, but the play about how two women in love, a former famous ballerina from St. Petersburg (Anna Garnova) and a fisherwoman from the Black Sea (Glafira Lebedeva), took turns kidnapping each other's electromechanic podkablucnik Volodenka (Alexei Trofimov), turned out to be much livelier and more exciting than its predecessors. Viewers who are looking for psychologism and authenticity in the theater, with difficulty believe in the proposed circumstances, but the rest will laugh while watching swims in winter waves or duel with the seven daughters of the main character.

"Ionich"

Yevgeny Vakhtangov Theater

This season, director Oleg Dolin is already producing his second production based on Chekhov's works: recently at the RAMT was "Sakhalin Island", and now at the New Stage of the Vakhtangov Theater he staged the story "Ionich" - a short and one of Anton Pavlovich's best.

The director brings to the foreground not the title character, provincial doctor Dmitry Ionich Startsev (Yuri Polyak), but the young pianist Katya Turkina (Asya Domskaya), with whom he was once madly in love, but was rejected. And this was the beginning of the degradation of a once gifted, spiritualized and kind man, who eventually turned into a greedy and pathetic philistine. But the destruction also affected Katya, who acts as the narrator in this densely populated play. She failed to realize her dreams of a metropolitan career ... The director, who had previously staged many in the style of Italian commedia dell'arte, managed to master Vakhtangov's trademark language and find the funny in the sad and the tragic in the funny.

"Queen of Spades"

Taganka Theater

"Stylish, fashionable, youthful" - this is how one can characterize many performances of the current Taganka. The premiere "Queen of Spades", staged by Denis Azarov on the basis of Pushkin's story (the author of the play - Olga Nikifirova), was no exception. The director admitted that he was inspired by the films of Guy Ritchie, which means that the audience should be ready for a new and sometimes unpredictable reading of the classics. The action of the mystical story about three cards is transferred to our days. There is a lot of mystery in the characters of the players and other characters played by the current Tagankovsky "pervachi" - Pavel Komarov, Philip Kotov, Alexei Finayev-Nikolotov, Vasily Urievsky, Nikita Luchikhin.

Irina Apeksimova, who has been at the helm of Taganka since 2015, bravely plays age roles - either young Desdemona, or, as in this case, the old countess, the Queen of Spades, who for most of the play is not an old woman at all, but a seductive vamp woman.

"Hamlet"

Once again mankind agonizes over the question: "Is it worthy / To humble oneself under the blows of fate, / Or should one resist / And in mortal combat with the whole sea of troubles / End them?". Isn't that the reason why several "Hamlets" have appeared in the capital this season?

The main lure of this loud, nervous and so far, to put it bluntly, uneven performance of the young theater "Cashmere" - the performer of the title role Dmitry Bikbaev, whom many remember from the television "Factory of Stars" and the roles in the Theater of the Moon. But the flavor of glamor and catwalk, which part of the public associates with Bikbaev, is deceptive. Dmitry plays a complex and modern character. Director Gulnara Galavinskaya gathered in the performance of famous artists (Dmitry Bozin, Maxim Dakhnenko, Lika Rulla, Artur Sopelnik) and students of theater universities, for whom this is the first step on the professional stage.

"Red Riding Hood"

28-year-old director Gosha Mnatsakanov, who three years ago drew attention to himself with two bright performances at the "School of Dramatic Art" theater, has returned to the capital's stage. This time he staged at the independent venue Space "Inside" not easy to retell a confusing road story about the search for truth and how good fights evil, where he himself was the author of the text.

This very Russian, very modern and, to put it bluntly, very strange fairy tale for adults has nothing to do with "Little Red Riding Hood" by Charles Perrault. The cast is excellent, including Taisiya Vilkova, Sergei Melkonyan, Maxim Vitorgan and Arina Marakulina, but whether you'll like the lashing story depends on how susceptible you are to theatrical experimentation.
