Russian cars are to be equipped with domestic systems for protection against cyberattacks. The cloud platform of cybersecurity for vehicles on the basis of the state information system "ERA-GLONASS" is planned to be launched in mid-January 2025. This is stated in the message of the press service of the operator, which was received by "Izvestia" on November 28.

JSC "Glonass" will launch the system jointly with FSUE "NAMI" and NPP "Gamma" with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Transport. Company CEO Alexei Raikevich explained that the pilot project will help highlight the vulnerabilities of the modern automobile and show modern mechanisms to detect and combat cyber threats.

During the first three months, the project will prepare to connect vehicles. The following four months will demonstrate the effectiveness of the cyber threat center (VSOC).

"The infrastructure of the ERA-GLONASS system will provide, within the framework of the joint project, a trusted environment for the exchange and processing of information, as well as a single bus of information interaction between vehicles and telematics platforms, the transfer of this data in the Russian jurisdiction in an uncorrected form," Glonass said.

On October 14, the Ministry of Transport reported that garbage trucks in Russia will be connected to the ERA-GLONASS system. This will allow to automatically collect information on waste transportation and track the unloading of garbage outside the equipped landfills. It will also reduce the risks of negative impact of solid municipal waste on human health and the environment.

October 7, it was reported that over the past three months, 532 thousand vehicles were connected to the state information system "ERA-GLONASS". This figure is three times more than the number of registered cars for the same period in 2022 and 2023. The total number of vehicles connected to ERA-GLONASS reached 11.6 million units.
